Introduction & Methods of Writing Assignment #2
Introduction
School stress, sleep, and diet all play a factor in an athletes ability to play a sport successfully. I did my study on field hockey players in specific. I surveyed multiple field hockey players from the University of Iowa on their average sleep, diet, and school stress. This information helps me understand why these affects impact our daily lives. Now why do these things impact us so greatly? For example, if an athlete doesn't fuel their body correctly for a competition or practice we struggle by either feeling tired with no energy, or sluggish from eating a heavy meal. In addition, sleep is a huge part of success in an athlete's life. Athlete’s need to be getting proper sleep, depending on how your body works, because everyone is different, it would usually be at least eight hours of sleep per night. This helps you recharge for the next day. Lastly, school stress is a key factor because if you aren't focused at practice or a game you are constantly worrying about an exam or an assignment and you won't perform to your standard. When playing a sport you must be properly fueled, well rested, and be focused at the task at hand. You must leave everything behind and just focus.

These athletes were asked a series of questions regarding their individual diet, sleep, and school stress. This survey did not take longer than five minutes to complete. The data gives an average sleep, diet, and school stress percentage.
Intro:
ReplyDeleteThe introduction has information that is interesting and true, but I think there could be more concrete information as well as sources to add credibility and more specific data. You do address various aspects of your topic, but more research could be added to back it up. I could not really find a gap. What I thought was the research question you answered with your examples, so redefining your research question would make the gap and why your research is important more clear. Language is somewhat formal, but you might want to detach yourself and avoid first-person speaking to make it more scholarly.
Methods:
Headings are clear and easy to follow. Participants are described and discussed well. The procedure is pretty clear, you could describe the type of answer choices you gave. A data analysis section would be beneficial to add.
