The speaker of the commercial is Odell Beckham Jr. He is a well known wide receiver for the New York Giants. Since he is famous this helps sell the product and makes this commercial effective. The purpose of this commercial is to show that a popular athlete uses the brand Head and Shoulders. The main goal is to sell Head and Shoulders. The setting is really important in this commercial because it is in an NFL stadium. At the end they show the product and its slogan, “Shoulders were made for greatness. Not dandruff.”. This was also said by Odell in the commercial. The ethos part is that Odell Beckham Jr. is a credible source because he is a famous athlete. People often associate his hairstyle with the hair product that he uses. Pathos is exemplified through making the audience want to buy Head and Shoulders to get great hair and to become something great like him. In this commercial it uses intense music with small amounts of information being said to get the audience to really listen to what he is saying. They also use his jersey as a way to show that his shoulders are clean because that is one of the promises of the product. Less dandruff equals less mess on a jersey and a name. Since he has a big name for himself the last thing that he wants to have on his shoulders is dandruff. They show that this product works better than any other name brand for dandruff.
